Rex Walls is misunderstod. He really isn't that great of a father, but he does what he can for his family. He can't afford much for them or himself but he's always there for his kids.
One of the first things that happened is that 3 year old Jeanette Walls had a trip into the Hospital because she brunt herself with the boiling water on the stove she was using to make her hotdogs. Jeanette was in the Hospital for a few weeks and her family doesn't have the money to cover that, so one day Rex Walls (her father) came in and just took her out before anyone could notice. After that, the family left their trailer park and drove to Battle Mountain, Nevada.
Jeanette got into trouble at her new school because her dad sometimes made her do her arithmetic homework in binary numbers to challenge her. Her teacher made her stay late and redo the homework. I think that was strange but in away an important part because Rex really made his daughter challenge herself and was tough on her (and the other kids).
When they moved to San Fransico Rose Mary found out she was pregnant. They hoped it would be a boy so their son Brian would have a baby brother to play with. It was a girl, Maureen.
Beer plays a big part in Rex's life because he is an alcoholic. He comes home wasted and breaks things and then passes out for the kids to see. Even if he has a job to do, he needs to have a beer in order to do it.
""Pick out your favorite star," Dad said that night." When Rex Walls can't afford to buy his children presents for Christmas, he tells them he can have any star in the night sky they want. Jeanette points at Venus and says "I want that one". Rex tells her that it's not a star, but let's her have it anyway. Even though he can't afford anything, he lets the kids know that a star is the best gift they could have. I think that part is important because he's still making and effort and that gift- even though it's not really theres- they'll always remember it.
When the famiy was in Battle Mountain the kids were in a fight with Billy Deel and they started firing guns at eachother! The police showed up and told them that tomorrow, they'll be going to court. When the police left their house, Rex decieded that they're moving again. Rex's problem is that he always runs away from his problems and now he's dragging his kids into his bad habits and teaching them that just running from your problems is okay.
Painting plays a big part in Rose Marys life. It's something she's passionate about and would like to persue. Painting is her escape from her crazy life.

I think the photo of the paint you had posted in your blog does show me a very good point of view in Rose Mary's life, as she likes to paint, and the photo you have posted really pops out! I like that photo you have chosen. Perhaps you can maybe the next time elaborate more in the description of why you chose that photo, and why this photo really stands out too you, and reminds you of the chapters, or parts you have read.
